This typographical cover for TM’s special “Grafa” or “Graphische Fachausstellung” (Printing Trades Exhibition) issue was designed by German graphic designer, photographer and painter, Anton Stankowski. A student of Max Burchartz in the late 1920s and an influential figure at the Max Dalang Advertising Agency in Zurich, Stankowski’s pioneering work helped lay the groundwork for the Swiss style of “Industrial Graphics” and “Objective Advertising”. Among others were Max Burchartz, Johannes Canis, Hans Neuburg, Richard Paul Lohse and Hans Trommer, too name a few.
