Originating in January of 1950, Good Design was a series of exhibitions of home furnishings, organized by Edgar Kaufmann, Jr. (Director, Good Design) from The Museum of Modern Art, New York for The Merchandise Mart, Chicago. Products (furniture, floor and wall coverings, fabrics, lamps, tablewares, appliances, etc.) were selected for their appearance, function, construction and price.
