Since 1938, Max Huber worked extensively for Monza Races, designing posters, flyers and program covers. This small program, detailing the regulations of the June 1958, five-hundred-mile race, mimics Huber’s 1957 poster design for the same race.

Here, Huber creates tension by combining black/white photography, angled sans-serif typography and bands of flat color. The curved shapes and suggested perspective help visualize the speed, direction and edges of the racetrack. Huber helped pioneer this style and his visual language was the basis for post-war Italian graphic design.
