Beautifully printed in Japan. Profusely illustrated, mostly in color. Katsu Kimura was born in 1934. He established himself as a package designer in 1960 and held his first solo exhibition in 1968 proposing a new concept of packaging. His numerous awards include the New York Top Packaging Award in 1967, the Tokyo ADC Award in 1981, and the Japan Package Design Award Special Prize in 1985. At a young age he was impressed by packages brought by the American Occupation forces after World War II and the box to the book is clearly inspired by Lucky Strike cigarettes.
A fine hardcover book in a near fine cardboard slipcase with only slight wear and a small tear to the top cover.
