This single-sided, silkscreen print was published as a promotional kit for the Build the Town building block set Sutnar designed between 1941 and 1943 while living in the U.S. Designed to inspire creativity and imagination among children it utilized simple wooden forms, shapes, colors and patterns to represent the 20th century metropolis. Sutnar pursued it with a financial investment. However, due to war-time and other circumstances it was never put into mass-production. Build the Town is among the most notable of objects for children created by significant designers and architects of the 20th century. Sutnar's City, Steven Heller

This print is 1 of only 2 (the other is a blue variation) promo materials Sutnar produced for the modern toy design (Ladislav Sutnar: Prague New York - Design in Action, 2003). Signed in stone “Sutnar”. A fine, uncirculated print.
